Philip Auslander is a scholar and researcher in many different fields crossing various arts and disciplines. His primary research interest is in performance, especially in relation to art, music, media, and technology. He has written on aesthetic and cultural performances as diverse as theatre, film acting, performance art, music, stand-up comedy, robotic performance and courtroom procedures. He teaches at the The Georgia Institute of Technology various subjects ranging from Radio, History of Performance Studies, Music as performance, Screen Acting (as he is also a working screen actor). He is editor of the website The Art Section.
Philip Auslander is editor of “The Art Section” (https://www.theartsection.com/) . He is author of 7 books and two of them have a special connection with the theatre: “From Acting to Performance: Essays in Modernism and Postmodernism” (1999) and “Liveness: Performance in a Mediatized Culture” which so far has had two editions (1999, 2008) and a third one is coming soon.
